Laurelbrook’s freshmen took their class time on Tuesday, February 14 to help the Dayton community by helping with the local soup kitchen. Here are the answers some gave when questioned about their experiences.

Where did you help the community? How did you help the community?

Ali - We went to the soup kitchen and made lentil soup.

Amanda - I passed out food to the people

Larissa - I helped make some lentil soup by cutting up some carrots and cleaning them, and cleaned my area. Also I washed a lot of pots and signed many cards with my name. Next my group and I went to pass out goody bags, some books (The Great Controversy, and The Desire of Ages), carnations, and the soup we made.

Eugene - We made some soup and gave it to people

How did people respond to your assistance?

Amanda - they were very happy to see us

Ali - they were extremely surprised that there were so many people giving them food. They were extremely happy with the assistance that they got.

Larissa - The people were very welcoming and they enjoyed their small gifts for Valentine's Day. They said, "God bless you and Happy Valentine's Day." They were all thankful for what they received from all of us.

Eugene – People who we brought some soup were very happy and they said "Thank you."
