The varsity boys basketball team fell to 3-2 overall as they lost to Sioux City, Iowa, East 67-53 Dec. 21, 2007, at WHS.

East is a top 10 team in Iowa and the No. 1 team in Sioux City.

Leading the Warriors were junior Levi Smith with 16 points and senior Nathan LeMaster with 10 points.

In sub-varsity action, the freshmen A team beat East in a nail-biter 46-42. The sophomore team also won 73-63.

On Dec. 29, 2007, the sub-varsity teams also took on the Sioux Falls Christian Chargers.

The freshmen team beat the Chargers 57-35. Leading scorers for the Warriors were freshmen Brandon Mohr with 16, Austin Bertram with 11 and Ben Green with 9. The sophomore team also won 68-49. Leading scorer was freshmen Matt Hermanson with 14.

The Warrior Girls basketball team brought home two more wins over the break and secured the spot as the No. 1 team in the state at 7-0.

All teams played Lincoln on Dec. 20, easily defeating the Patriots. The freshmen A team won 43-29, the B team 30-14, the sophomores 64-39, the junior varsity won 64-31 and the varsity 71-42.

The varsity then took part in the KWSN Holiday Invitational Dec. 29, 2007, where the Warriors faced the third-ranked Brandon Valley Lynx at the Arena, winning 59-37.

Sub-varsity teams were at WHS that morning, as all teams earned convincing wins and the sophomore and junior varsity teams continued their undefeated seasons.

The Warrior boys and girls host the Rapid City teams Friday and Saturday.
