As the fall season is ending and the fall sports teams are finishing up their postseasons, the winter teams here at Quince Orchard are gearing up to get their seasons started.

The winter sports offered at Quince Orchard are boy’s and girl’s basketball, boy’s and girl’s swimming, boy’s and girl’s indoor track, and boy’s wrestling. Cheerleading and Poms are also in season.

The boy’s basketball team this year is looking for revenge after their region-final loss to the Magruder Colonels last year. Look for Neal Kosciulek to be an impact player on the court. Girl’s basketball is also looking to have a solid year. The team is led by a core group of seniors including Maggie Price, Grace Wallerstedt, Vicky Lisle, and Danielle Dasilva. Junior Veronica Kresse will help round out the team. “We’ve been playing well in fall league and we are really excited about this season...we all want to do well,” said Lisle.

The swim teams are hoping to do well this season and win big in their championship season. Seniors David Somers and Lindsey Szymczak should both help lead the Cougars to success.

Postseason success from the cross country season should provide a smooth transition into the indoor track season. Standouts Neal Darmody, Artem Panasenkov, David Laratta, Josh Joson, Ryan Privolos, and Kris Lasko should lead the boy’s squad while senior Bethany Scanlan and sophomore Stephanie Joson should be strong on the girl’s side.

The wrestling team suffered the loss of state champion Mike Mascio to graduation, but should do well this year under the leadership of new coach Chris Tao.

Cheerleading and poms have most of their competitions in the winter months. Winter season and practices officially begins November 15. Good luck to all the winter athletes!
