Mayfair had two sports advance to the first round of CIF this spring. Boys basketball and girls soccer had a great season and now look forward to a challenging post season.First round CIF Mayfair girls soccer played Cerritos Wed. Feb 20 and won 3-0. Mayfair’s first goal was scored by Brittany Perez in the first 5 minutes. Lauren Nierath scored a free kick from 30 yards about 10 minutes into the game. The last goal was scored by Nicole Hubbard in last 8 minutes into the game.Friday Feb. 22, Mayfair girls soccer played a highly anticipated game against Troy High School. This was the CIF quarterfinals, and both teams fought hard to win this very important game for both schools. The only goal of the came in the second half when Nicole Hubbard scored to put Mayfair up 1-0 which also was the final score of the game.Girls soccer advances to the CIF semifinals playing Santiago High School on Feb. 26 at 3pm at home.Feb. 22 night’s varsity CIF quarterfinals basketball playoff game against Long Beach Wilson turned out to be a disappointment. The final score was 80-68 and had very few highlights. Charles Odum scored 22 points. Their season ends with 24-5.
