SCHOOLS IN TENNESSEE VS. SCHOOLS IN GEORGIA

I have to say its been an interesting week back at school in Tennessee. School here is alot different than East Cobb Middle school located in Marietta GA. Here is how a typical day goes in this school I attend in TN. School starts at 8:30 which is really annoying because you have to get up like really early. The school itself does not have a very welcoming look. All along the outside of the school runs a seven foot barbed wire fence, and that is just the outside. The interior of the school is not much better.

The classes are not as organized as East Cobb. We learn whatever we can that day if we learn at all. The education is pitiful. I am in advanced classes, not because I am that advance or anything, but I learned material harder than this in Ms. Graham's regular classes that are not advanced. Actually Ms. Graham's class is ahead of my current class here. The teachers are not as good either. I know you cannot just find another teachers as good as Ms Koval, Mr Trowers, Mr Dewar, and Ms Graham everywhere, but the teachers here can at least appear to care.

The teachers here at this school in TN just give us worksheets and tell us to do them. That's the other bad part, most students do not complete them. The students are not encouraged to work hard and they usually do not. I was sitting in science today finishing a bunch of papers up and the girl beside me had not even started working. When I asked her why she wasn't her reply was " I'm already failing anyways so why should I care?" I have to say I do not know how long I'll last at this school. It is definitely not my favorite. but hey I learned a valuable lesson. There's no place like East Cobb Middle School, so be grateful every day because believe me it can always get worse.

Great article Rachel! Well, we miss you down here too. Remember to keep pushing yourself, even if your peers don't follow your lead. I'm glad you wrote this for the ECMS students, hopefully it will open up some of their eyes.
