Arctic Blast to Bring Accumulating Snow, Wind, and Potentially Snow Days
Advertising
A major storm system is rolling across the map bringing all kinds of wild weather to the nation. Tornado watches and warnings are up in Mississippi, and Blizzard watches and warnings in Minnesota. That storm system will be impacting the bluegrass region more in the next coming days. The rain falling currently will mix with and switch over to snow in the predawn hours tonight going into Sunday as a bone chilling cold front makes its way through. A quick downburst of snow may easily lay down half an inch to an inch. Then it looks like a break in the action will occur for a brief period before all the wrap around moisture invades bring more snow, which may be heavy at times. As the tempuratures plummet to near 18 tomorrow, winds will howl and speeds of 30 to 35 miles per hour which will also create white out and blizzard conditions. The snow will persist through Monday afternoon and evening before dying down to flurries. All in all 2-4 inches are possible with 5" in some spots. Monday's high will struggle to make it out of the teens. Lows will be in the single digits and wind chills will reach -10. A *Winter Weather Adisory* has been issued in preparation for what is coming. The forecast also means Fayette county students may be able to look forward towards their first snow day of the year, but that can never be promised. Another forecast with an official snow day prediction will be posted tomorrow evening.

With the weather update,

I'm Meteorologist Chris Reece.
