The Eagles traveled to Oklahoma on September 18th to take on the Guymon Tigers. Guymon’s hope of a victorious homecoming quickly diminished as the Eagles took the field defeating the Tigers 24.-3.
Receiving the ball the Eagles’ momentum was up and led to a fantastic drive that ended with a 43 yard touchdown pass from Zach Dunlap to Coltin Ghumm. Guymon’s hopes were dashed as they turned the ball over and came up short each possession punting on every drive except one.
After the half, Guymon had a long pass play which was their only highlight on offense, but couldn’t manage to find the end zone. They did, however kick, a field goal to make the score 12-3 with Hugoton on top. Hugoton dominated, scoring twice more in the second half ending the game 24-3 Eagles with another victory.
Caleb Gifford had a big night both offensively and defensively. He ran the ball 36 times for 189 yards with two touchdowns and tallied 7 tackles on defense. Keithan Martin and Bubba Beltz also had good gains on the ground. Keithan Martin rushed 17 times for 76 yards and Bubba Beltz rushed 10 times for 55 yards. Zach Dunlap had two pass completions for 71 yards. Coltin Ghumm and Keithan Martin were on the receiving end of those two passes, Ghumm with 43 yards receiving and Martin with 28 yards. The Eagles were playing hard nosed defense and Guymon ended the night with -12 yards rushing.
