"Your gonna need a good jacket this winter." - Josh Stroker
"It's cold", is an understatement! Welcome to winter South Jersey! It's been a good number of years since our region has really endured an actual "winter". Over the past 4 years we have enjoyed above average temperatures with not a lot of precipitation. This year we are making an about faced turn as an arctic high pressure controls at least half of our nation.
The cold isn't only affecting us, but a lot of "snowbirds" in Florida! Yes, Florida. Over the past week, temps dipped below the freezing mark in southern Florida wreaking havoc on the crops in that area. If you think we have it bad, just look a bit further to our west where wind chills are at an amazing all-time low, regions of Montana and the Dakota's are seeing lows at a significant degree below zero. When you compare us to everyone else, we're not doing TOO bad!
Today and tomorrow, we will catch a small break. I expect the high to get up to about maybe 36 with winds out of the west at about 15 mph. Tomorrow night into Friday morning, a disturbance will move over the Tennesee River valley and find it's way smack dab in our backyards. Earlier in the week I thought it had the potential to dump significant accumulations, but as of right now it looks as if it will be a weak low that will come in over night and leave us with maybe 2-3 inches. I will continue to monitor it nontheless and will have a Live-Video update later this afternoon.
Keep warm and remember the key is layers!
