(October 22, 2002) -- Clark’s World Series single elimination tournament begins tomorrow during tutorial. According to the game results from the past few weeks, tournament coordinators Judy Thomsen, Randy Tiffany and Chris Axelgard will seed the teams in order by rank.
According to Thomsen, many players have been dropped from the tournament due to their failure to follow rules and regulations. During the single elimination, once a team loses one game, they will be permanently out of the World Series.
Last Tuesday, the Mets team disappointedly walked away from the field. Every team had been told by Thomsen that two girls “must” play in order for a game to conclude correctly.
Sadly enough, two of their female players had not shown up for that game. Mets captain Ara Khonagi said, “I’m very angry. We would’ve won!” Despite their loss, both teams said they enjoyed the game.
In another interesting game played Oct. 10, the Reds showed up to compete wearing matching “Be The Reds” shirts. The Reds successfully beat the Twins 8-6 that day.
On Oct. 8, John Sihn from the Astros hit the ball over the fence, getting an automatic three outs. The game ended with their opponent, the White Sox, winning 5-2.
Last Wednesday, the Braves and Yankees went head to head. At the beginning of the game, the Braves were impressively beating the Yankees 13-0. After a couple of innings, soon enough near the end of the game, the Yankees came back scoring seven runs. The game ended with the Braves beating the Yankees 15-7.
Games for this year started Oct. 1 and have been continuous ever since.
For the first time in Clark history, there are 22 teams involved in the World Series, which is five more teams than last year.
