The sophomore class ruled the court against the seniors in the class-versus-class
basketball championship on the evening of Tuesday, February 2. The junior class defeated the freshman to
secure the third place spot. Any
students in high school, girls or boys, could compete for their respective classes. Before the basketball games started, a
potluck supper took place in the Event Center for anyone in the community who
wished to attend. Both the potluck
supper and the basketball tournament were events scheduled to celebrate the
high school Winterfest.
As soon
as the supper was over, the games began.
The seniors battled the freshmen in the opening game. The seniors easily handled their younger foes
and advanced to the championship. Next,
the sophomores and the juniors fought it out to determine the senior’s opponent
in the championship. The sophomores came
out on top by a large margin and prepared to take on their older schoolmates.
The
championship game easily went to the sophomore class, but everyone seemed to
enjoy themselves. “ Even though we lost,
it was still a lot of fun,” commented senior Tyler Davis, “Those sophomores are
pretty good.” The event ran smoothly and
the mixed crowd of students and parents had a good time watching the competition.
