2010 Wiggins Prom King and Queen Tyler Davis and Mariela Mendez were crowned Saturday night. - Stacie Ritchey
Girls
in pretty dresses and boys in dashing tuxes crowded into to Wiggins High
School’s junior high gym on April 17, 2010, to spend a romantic evening at the
2010 Junior/Senior Prom.
Prom
royalty for the girls included Julia Hollis, Kelsey Malone, Mariela Mendez, and
Kayla Iiams. Royalty for the boys included Dillon McCombs, Kohl Knutson, Kyser
Baessler, and Tyler Davis. Tyler Davis was crowned king and Mariela Mendez was
crowned queen.
Some
couples that stuck out were Kayla Iiams and her date Pete Springer. Kayla wore
a short, lime green dress with black Converse shoes and lime green shoe laces.
Pete wore a lime green vest and matching Converse shoes. Also, Mariela Mendez
and Logan Trautwein wore Mariachi outfits, which are decorative outfits worn in
Mexican cultures. Mariela wore a very gorgeous pink and white dress that flared
out, making her look like a princess.
The junior
class did an excellent job of turning the old smelly gym into an elegant dance
for the juniors and seniors. Sixteen columns surrounded the gym with black
gossamer and a lovely water fountain in the middle of the floor. Blue lights
shown through the columns to create the theme, “After Glow.”
The DJ,
DJ Jones, tried his best to get everyone off of their butts and onto their feet
and dancing. Mostly country and slow songs were played but in the end, everyone
had a great time.
After
the dance, the juniors and seniors were given gifts. The boys received travel
mugs and the girls received candles. All together, the dance was well put
together.
After Prom was a jungle theme put on by the junior parents in the Event Center. A
bucking bull, sumo wrestling, and jousting were the major activities available
at After Prom, along with some smaller games such as Guitar Hero, ping pong, Twister, and poker.
