Helping others is a great trait that seems to have been lost throughout the years. Well this past six weeks, Teague High School, the fun in helping others. This past six weeks Shirley Jones and Louise Wilson visited Mrs. Erwin’s fourth and fifth period classes to help teach eager teenagers how to knit. These fine ladies dedicated weeks of their time in helping students to knit. The students were taught how to knit and make a scarf for themselves. Mr. Evans, the school principal had these kind words to share, “I really enjoyed having such a knowledgeable influence come in and teach the students not only how to knit but the importance of helping others. These ladies are encouraged to come back at any time and teach our younger generation a thing or two from the past.” Mrs. Erwin’s classes are forever grateful for these ladies in dedicating their time and patience to help this younger generation to knit.

Mrs. Shirley Jones graduated from Teague and has lived here her entire life. She married and her children grew up in Teague as well. Mrs. Jones is a talented lady not only in knitting but she also has an extremely gifted talent for music. She enjoys playing bluegrass and has an amazing talent for it.

Mrs. Louise Wilson also graduated from Teague High School. She has been a dear member to the community of Teague for practically her whole life. Mrs. Wilson also married and raised her family right here in this quiet town. Mrs. Wilson not only enjoys knitting, but sewing in general and she has an amazing talent for it.

The students had a blast learning how to knit and having these ladies teach them. These ladies always came with a smile ready to teach, and a wonderful attitude that was contagious. It was a true blessing to have these members of the Teague community come into the school to teach and share their knowledge of knitting. It really is truly amazing how much an older generation can teach a younger one.
