Rajon Rondo’s play and the explosive first half by Ray Allen proved to be too much for the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Lakers take a series lead of 1-0 coming into tonight’s game. The Celtics have a lot to prove after a stunning game 1 defeat. The Celtics come out of the first quarter with great intensity. But the Lakers stayed atop. Rajon Rondo had a triple-double in the night, including 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. Most of the assists came from Ray Allen.
Allen sparked the team as Kendrick Perkins, Glen Davis, and Rasheed Wallace were all in foul trouble. Ray Allen scored seven 3-pointers by the half. Allen breaks the NBA finals record scoring eight 3-pointers finishing with a game high of 32 points. Ray Allen shot 11-20 field goals.
But the Lakers stole the momentum at the end of the 2nd quarter as the Celtics committed a bad play. Kobe Bryant who was also in foul trouble, stole the ball and made a 3-pointer to end the half. The Lakers were trailing by six heading to the locker room.
The Lakers came out of the locker room being more aggressive than the Celtics. But the play of Ray Allen could not be stopped. The offensive rebounding by the Celtics hurt the Lakers greatly.
Even through a few flops and bad referee calls, the Lakers fought back to tie the game. Andrew Bynum of the Los Angeles Lakers has been quiet throughout the play-offs but sparked the Lakers with seven blocks, six rebounds, and twenty-one points. Pau Gasol continues his great all around game getting scoring 25 points and 8 rebounds. Kobe Bryant, being in foul trouble most of the night, still managed to score 21 points, but Rajon Rondo with a slick finger roll move on Andrew Bynum, manages to pull away from the Lakers to win 103-94.
With the win the Celtics take home court advantage from the Lakers and also forcing the first home play-off lost of the Lakers this season, although there is still hope for the Lakers because it’s still the beginning of the 2010 NBA Finals.
