“Morgan is the cat’s pajamas and the bee’s knees,” said senior Oliver Smith, about friend and football teammate senior Morgan Dorr.  “He is funny, lightens the mood and is a very hard worker.”

Dorr, who is one of the captains of the varsity football team, plays middle linebacker.  Dorr has been playing football since his freshman year at Holy Family.

“As a senior and captain of the team, I’m looking forward to setting a good example of working hard with the other captains for the younger guys.  I want to help the team reach its full potential this year,” said Dorr.

His inspiration comes from Saint Francis of Assisi because along with being religious and loving, he lived a life of service for others, according to Dorr.

Senior Jake Matthews, also a friend and teammate of Dorr, said, “I can always rely on Morgan when I’m down, and I know people look up to him as a person.  He is a very strong leader.”

Considering the football team as a whole, it consists of close, good friends with good team chemistry, according to Matthews.

The best thing about playing football for Dorr is “the friendships you form and all of the time you get to spend with close friends.  Even conditioning isn’t as bad when you are with good friends.”

Dorr also wrestles for Holy Family during the winter; however, his favorite sport is whatever sport he is playing at the moment.

For now, he puts his energy and time into football.

Dorr describes himself as a determined individual.  “Every game, I only focus on one play at a time, and do the best I can during that play.”

As a student athlete, Dorr balances football and school by keeping track of everything with the Tiger Tips planner and a wall calendar at his home.

Dorr said, “When I get home from school and football practice, I usually try to start my homework right away.  That way, I can keep track of everything and get it all done on time.”
