     Tis the season to be broke.

     With the holiday’s approaching families are scurrying to make ends meet.

      When children become teens, the Christmas lists become shorter but more expensive. However, with a struggling economy and nearly 10 percent of the population unemployed the in this economy, it is apparent that shoppers are going to need to check their Christmas list twice this year.

     According to the Toronto Sun, the spending for this holiday season will drop the lowest it has been in the last five years. People are going to be hitting the sales racks this season and cut down on what they spend.

     As Americans, we expect to get what we want. People need to lower their standards and appreciate the little things.

     The holiday season is a time of thanks and giving. Spending time with your family is what the season is all about.

     It is time that people slow down and appreciate what they have in front of them. It is time for a reality check this holiday season. It is apparent that this holiday might not be like the other when it comes to the economy.
