Christine Hemming, the wife of British lawmaker John Hemming, appeared in Birmingham Magistrates’ Court October 21, 2010 charged with breaking into the house of her husband’s lover, Emily Cox, and stealing her tabby kitten.
Mrs. Hemming is alleged to have broken in to the home of Emily Cox, with whom John Hemming fathered a child in 2005. Magistrates granted Mrs. Hemming conditioned bail and is required to appear before magistrates for a committal hearing in December. The tabby kitten’s fate was not made clear in court, but posted October 21 on Mr. Hemming’s blog is a picture of the cat, named Beauty.
Mr. Hemming asked for anyone who had seen her to please contact him at the House of Commons and that there was a reward for the cat. NH student, Brianna Price said, “That poor kitten. I hope someone finds her.” It also says on his blog that the kitten belongs to his daughter, age 4.
According to www.independant.co.uk, Mr. Hemming told the Press Association “I would just like the cat back. I have spent some time looking for the kitten and there is a reward for the safe return of the kitten. Her brother Twinkle is pining for her.
