This year at Tyngsboro
High School, seniors have the ability to apply to either Fitchburg State
College or UMass Lowell and learn whether or not they have been
accepted directly after an interview with the college of their choice.
With on-site decision,
the school must receive your application by a certain deadline. The
deadline for Fitchburg State has passed; however, students may still
send in their applications to UMass Lowell. The admissions will then
review the applications and decide whether or not the student meets the
requirements. The interview doesn’t affect the student’s admission.
According to Mrs.
Harkins, the guidance secretary, most students are under the
misconception that if they are accepted with on-site decision, they must
go to that school. However, it’s really just another option.
If a student has been
rejected from the school, the admissions officer will most likely say
their positive attributes and an explanation of why they didn’t get in.
