I'm pretty sure you’ve probably heard of Youtube by now. The site where you can share videos with the rest of the world? It’s pretty popular around here. You can search for music videos or funny parodies. It’s a fun site to check out but there is a risk when you upload videos of you or your friends doing something.
Youtube is a site that anyone can go on, and I mean ANYONE. Some one you have never met that lives in China could be looking at your video. Strangers are allowed to see your face and watch your videos. Here are a few tips for staying safe on Youtube:
- Never put your full name on any video or in your username.
- Never put your phone number in your videos or in any comments you make on other people’s videos.
- Get your parent’s permission before creating an account and make sure they are able to monitor your videos and comments.
- Never put your home address in any videos or comments.
- Make your account private if you only want people you know to see it.
These five tips will keep you safe when uploading or using Youtube! Have fun!
