South Warren has many clubs, and each one serves a different purpose. Future Educators of America (also known as FEA) is one of the multiple clubs. FEA is a program that helps students develop the qualities and knowledge to be an educator.
The goal of FEA is to assist students in their desires of becoming an educator.
Mrs. White and Ms. Graves are the club sponsors. To help prepare the members, the advisors plan different activities. Some have been to listen to guest speakers, compete in different academic categories (essay, impromptu speaking, PSA, and banner making) and even shadowing some teachers!
On March 28th, seven of the members went to Rich Pond Elementary School to shadow teachers and their classes. Ashlea Ellsbury stated, “Shadowing Mrs. Lim gave me the chance to see a teacher’s outlook and perspective during a school day rather than a student’s.” She believes that the experience was very helpful, and she now knows some of the different tasks a teacher may have to do throughout a school day.
Along with Ashlea, other students are very thankful for FEA and its support to helping their career. They feel that this club is extremely helpful to get an insight for what it takes to become a teacher.
