For the first time in three years, Northshore High School’s WWII Quiz Bowl team competed at the National WWII Museum’s annual high school quiz bowl competition, which took place on Saturday, February 19th. They came in 10th place out of 25 schools, but only trailed the first place team by nine points. The team consists of Patrick Sprung (freshman), Michael McKinney (freshman), and Justin Carollo (sophomore); when asked about the completion, member Justin Carollo stated, “We did fairly well, but there were some questions I never expected.” Before the questioning began, the boys were allotted time to explore the exhibits before they had to check in, and between the three team members, they were able to answer the majority of the questions. Simply by participating in this competition, the boys received a free membership to the museum for a year. The team worked extremely hard for several weeks reading various WWII books in their spare time; they even watched the military channel frequently in preparation for the big day. Although they did not place first, the team did extremely well! Congratulations Panthers; you did a phenomenal job!
