When you hear about people arriving at school at four in the morning, you start to wonder who in their right mind would be on campus at this time. Once you hear that a line of roughly 60 kids were already waiting by 4:15 in front of the storm cellar, you start to question their sanity.
All this craziness can only mean one thing: Junior Prom.
Is it worth waking up this early? Juniors most definitely think so. The highlight of their junior year revolves around this one night. The pictures, the dinner, the party bus, and the night itself creates longtime memories for them.
Everything has to go right. Even if it means having to wake up before the sun is up to join other anxious juniors to get their tickets.
The reason for getting up this early? Friends wanted to get the same tables at Junior Prom and wanted to get a table that won’t break down. A night sitting amongst strangers will most definitely turn into a night to forget. It is simply imperative to sit with those you know and those you want to be with.
Most juniors woke up at 4am to get up this early but some juniors like Baylor Hogan, even came at midnight to wait for their tickets.
“I figured I would have to wake up early anyways so I thought why not go that early and make the most of it,” says Hogan.
This year, Junior Prom tickets came on sale on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, and the rush for tickets and the battle for tables seats lasted the rest of the week. Though it seems as though so much energy is wasted on this one night, it is all worth the hectic planning in the end.
“It was so much fun going early in the morning,” Hogan says, “and I would definitely do it again.”
