Dave's Cosmic Subs: are you experienced?

Huge subs. Great atmosphere. Dave’s Cosmic Subs in Hudson, Ohio, is a mellow 60’s sandwich shop with a musical feel that the Colonel staff members found to be one of the best Rider Eats yet.

Colorful wall paintings and designs are the first things that catch diners’ attention. Famous portraits and posters line the walls and ceiling along with signatures and graffiti from people who have visited in the past.

“I love the atmosphere; you can write on the murals on the walls. When I looked up, I saw Jerry Garcia. Very cool,” senior Lauren Antognoli said.

“The place’s décor is so hippie-oriented, you expect there to be two guys sitting there barefoot and playing acoustic guitars. Well, I guess it’s Hudson, so a bored-looking guy is all you get,” senior Austin Kotting said.

The menu offers every kind of sub that one could want, sporting names like “Dave’s Far Out Chicken,” “Dave’s Rock-N-Roll,” and “The Tuna Dave.” All if the ingredients are guaranteed fresh and are piled on the bread to create a massive meal (pickle included) that is big enough to satisfy any appetite.

Pricier than Subway but still reasonable, large subs are $8.95 and regular ones are $4.95. However, “Plain Dave’s” quick subs, made with bread and meat only, cost $2.50. Some select subs are slightly more or less expensive than the regular ones due to special added ingredients. There is also a small selection of various salads, beverages, side dishes, and desserts, all at reasonable costs.

“The food was a little expensive, but considering it was fresh from the oven and the subs were bigger than my arms, it was definitely worth it,” sophomore Anna Springer said.

“The subs are a little pricey, but they are filled with so much stuff that it’s worth it. You could spend days just reading the walls. You may want to enjoy a sub in the process,” junior Michael Dietz agreed.

Whether you are looking for a relaxing, Beatles-like atmosphere or just a huge, fresh sub, forget about Subway. Dave’s Cosmic Subs is definitely the way to go.
