Most students are not ready when school comes around, so don't wait for September to start getting ready for school. Plan ahead so you are ready when that first day comes by preparing yourself early. You'll find the transition easier if you don't wait until the last minute. You will be a lot less stressed and can start the year off right.
Review- Look over last year's work so you don't forget what you learned. Review your old tests and assignments to see if you remember how you got your answers. Go over anything you have trouble with.
Read ahead- Find out what you'll be reading in your new school year and read ahead. Ask an older student or a teacher what they studied if you want to look ahead at your subjects.
Practice- Practice your math facts. Make sure you know the basics like adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. Review your topics from the last year.
Get help- Get a tutor if you feel you aren't ready for the next grade. You can also get workbooks that cover your past grade and your new grade so you can review and look ahead.
Get stuff you need- Buy all your supplies on your school supply list early. Make sure you get a bag or backpack to hold your supplies. Do all your school clothes shopping, too.
Plan ahead- Plan your schedule in advance, so you know when to get up and when you need to leave for school. Find out were your classes are so you don’t get lost. Make arrangements with a friend if you don't want to go to school alone.
Early to bed, Early to rise- Get up early a few weeks before school begins, so that you get used to the schedule change.
With a little preparation, you can feel much more prepared for the next school year.
