The Championship game is over now and the Mustangs come home with yet another championship under their belt. The Lady Mustangs softball team has gone 5 years in a row with taking the championship and I don’t think their time is up yet! On Monday 14th of 2012 the Lady Mustangs played the Firebaugh Bulldogs in a 10-0 victory and shut them down to end the game in the 5th inning winning another championship for Ranchos Middle School. So as the game was approaching the Lady Mustangs knew they had to come out strong and ready to swing their bats and get their gloves down and ready to do whatever they had to do to take the title again. The Mustangs started on the field being the home team with Cassidy Santa Cruz starting off the game the first batter up to bat. She went deep in her count and ended up battling and hit the ball up the middle for a single. After that Cassidy put them back were they belonged and struck out the next three batters with her amazing rise ball. The Mustangs are now up to bat and their pitcher struck out the first batter and the second batter got on with an error but then got thrown out at 2nd, and the third batter hit a single and the fourth struck out to end the first inning. After the 1st inning ended with the score untouched Cassidy yet again struck out three more batters. So the Mustangs started up a pretty long rally and ended that inning with a bang with the score now 5-0. By the top of the 3rd the Bulldogs were getting frustrated by not being able to hit off of Cassidy but ended up only getting only one hit that inning of an error. The bottom of the inning the Mustangs only got 2 hits and were ready for another inning of defense with a new pitcher change who was Jyllian Ahart. She also had no problem shutting there batters down in both the 4th and 5th innings with 3 strikeouts and 3 grounders that the infield picked up easily. By the bottom of the 5th the Mustangs got a little tired of the score and got another rally going and ended the inning early when the score reached 10-0 with only one out. The Mustangs took the Championship with all smiles and cheers and enjoying a great season being undefeated!
