Air Force Academy admissions liaison officer Kenneth Thompson spoke to Stevens seniors and juniors at Post-High Planning Day. He discussed the process of applying to the Academy, the benefits of the school, and what the school is looking for in a candidate.
“Basically, we’re looking for leaders and leadership potential. At the Academy, we train officers, so we want people to be able to step up into the role of a leader,” Thompson said. “You might be involved in a sports team, which is good, but being a captain of that team is better.”
In addition to leadership, Air Force Academy candidates must have good grades and test scores; the average ACT score of accepted candidates is 29-32. The Academy also requires a high level of physical fitness, as a recent survey awarded the Academy as the most physically fit college in the nation.
