Out of a random survey of 100 Morton East staff and students, 52% picked McDonalds over Burger King, with regard to Mexican cuisine, the same staff and students picked El Indio, over Zacatacos.

Students were asked where they prefer going out to eat with family and friends; some enjoy fast food places while others enjoy Mexican cuisine. They were then asked which fast food restaurant they’d rather eat at, McDonalds or Burger King, McDonalds won by 52%. They were also asked what Mexican dine inn they preferred El Indio over Zacatacos.

“I love Mexican food but I love food in general,” Principal Frank Zarate said. He later added, “Food quality is more important in a restaurant than the atmosphere.” He doesn’t mind where he eats as long as the food is good.

A veteran cashier at the Morty’s stand at the cafeteria took her time to tell us about her favorite place to eat.

“I don’t go out to eat that much, maybe two or three times a month. I love all types of food, but my favorite restaurant would have to be Maggiano’s in Oak Brook. I go there for the tiramisu, and the pasta is phenomenal,” Sally Kelpus said.

Class of 2012, had something to say as well, senior Karen Ibarra tells us about her number one spot.

“I go out every two weeks, and I’m going to say Mexican food all the way. El Indio has to be the number one taco place, the food is flame,” Karen Ibarra said. She later added, “McDonalds has to be my favorite fast food place! I’m lovin it! Literally: D,” she said.

Junior Oscar Burgos, debated over which place he liked the best. After minutes of thinking he finally came to an agreement. “I hate Burger King! I’d rather eat at McDonalds, the fries are crispy, and the cookies are amazing,” Oscar Burgos said.

Sophomores are getting used to the new building as well as other things here at East. Interviewing them was a first, so we made sure to make them feel comfortable. Sophomore, Angelica Urquizo took her time to be interviewed. “Every time I go I always buy a six piece happy meal, and an apple juice on the side. It makes me feel like a kid again,” Angelica Urquizo said.
