On Saturday, February 25, Shelton hosted its first Service Fair in several years. The event was held in the Commons from noon until 3 pm. During that time, students from Shelton and various other schools visited with 32 non-profit agencies to learn about volunteer opportunities. There were a few opportunities to earn service credit on this one day, including bringing shoes for the Shoe Bank and canned goods for the Food Pantry. Prom dresses were also accepted for our continuing drive for the Prom Shop Project. Students could also write letters to military personnel serving overseas via "A Million Thanks," and they could buy concessions to benefit the Andy Krippner Scholarship Fund. By the end of the 3-hour extravaganza, hundreds of shoes and canned goods were donated, several prom dresses were brought in, and many cards were written to our military heroes overseas. The Krippner Scholarship Fund also grew a little thanks to the generosity of the fair visitors. All in all, it was a great day of networking, service, and generosity.
