As April showers bring May flowers, HHS students stress for AP Tests, spring sports and prom. Long dresses, short dresses, ties, bow ties, hair styles and  high heels; where are the best deals? Prom seems like a constant battle between thousands of options and outcomes. From popping the question to the frantic search for the perfect dress, and pulling the whole outfit together with a corsage and boutonniere, make it a memory for your high school experience. These are helpful hints to get your creative ideas flowing for your very best prom experience.

Her Dress:
Will it fit? How much does it cost? Will somebody have the same one? These are all questions that go through the mind when picking the perfect dress. To find a unique and affordable dress, visit different stores and try on all styles of dresses that you might like. Department stores such as Nordstrom, Bon-Ton and Macy's or specialty stores like David's Bridal, DEB and Cocoa Couture are all popular places to buy a dress. Instead of putting a day aside for a dream dress that may not be available, browsing the internet for more selections can be another option. Renttherunway.com and Promgirl.com are just two online stores that have a variety of prom dresses.
The prom trends for this year are bold and dramatic. Prom dresses all make a strong statement with bold beading, in-your-face sequins, showy ruffles and eye-catching prints. Some styles for this year's prom include the mermaid, which is fitted through the top but then comes out at the bottom near the knee; the cut outs, which range from deep plunging necklines to shaped cutout along the waist or hips; and the high low, which has a short skirt in the front and a long train in the back.

How to Ask:
Be creative and bold. Find something she is interested in or something you two have in common and build off of it. To maintain the element of surprise, keep it a secret. Put a surprise in her locker during the day like balloons or post-it notes. Plan a special night just for the two of you and ask her with flowers and a teddy bear, or make a cake asking her to prom.  The question should not be too flashy; you do not want it to be over the top and seem like it took too much effort. Creativity is key.

Pictures:
Popular places for pictures include the Hotel Hershey, Hershey Lodge, Founders Hall or the Hershey Gardens. Before choosing a location, call ahead to verify that taking pictures is okay on prom day.

Corsage and Boutonniere:
Corsages and boutonnieres are often times skipped over and not thought out. As always, make sure the colors match. If your date's dress is a neutral color then add a pop of color with the corsage and boutonniere. If she has a bright dress, tone it down and choose a white or cream flower. Corsages and boutonnieres complete the prom outfit and should not be overlooked. Some suggestions for a flower shop in Hershey are Royer's Flowers, Maria's Flowers, Hershey Best Florist and The Hershey Florist.

Her Hair:
There are various ways to do one's hair for prom: short, long, flat-ironed, long waves, fishtail, soft buns and unique headbands. But the most important thing is to make sure your prom hairstyle works with your dress. Some popular hairstyles for this year include the messy updo, half-up/half-down, different braids, and side-swept hair.

His Suit:
It may not seem like it, but the suit is an intricate factor in completing the entire prom look. The tie must be visually appealing and coincide with the partner's dress. If the dress is a solid color, then be unique and find a tie that has a pattern. Instead of wearing the traditional tie, try wearing a bow tie. Bow ties are fun and steer away from the traditional tie. If you do not want to wear a black bow tie, find a colorful bow tie that matches your date's dress. The traditional shoe is a nice dress shoe, but sometimes it is fun to try something different. Shake it up a bit and wear sneakers from Nike's or Converse. Do not forget to match!
