This spring season, the Abington Girls’ Softball team is working hard towards winning a state title. Varsity pitcher, Kelly Norton is captain of the 2012 team along with teammates, Stephanie Cornish and Elizabeth Morgan. After a recent win against Whitman-Hanson, Norton spoke on behalf of her team by saying that she is “…pretty hopeful for the team after yesterday’s win and it was good to see that everyone has the drive and determination in such a close game.” As we go to print, the girls hold a record of 7-2. Although, Norton says “We definitely have a lot of room for improvement and still have a lot of work to do.” The team is looking forward to becoming strong competitors in the South Shore League.
The girls have grown as teammates throughout past seasons and it outstandingly contributes to their success. As a senior Kelly Norton hopes to leave behind a “strong team spirit” for players in upcoming years. There is great hope that with this spirit and perseverance, the 2012 Abington Girls’ Softball team will carry on the success of previous seasons.
