To be a 12-season athlete, students must participate in a fall, winter, and spring sport every single season throughout their four years of high school.  This means that the athlete endured over 750 hours of practice, 360 hours of games and 24 hours of the Sports Awards Ceremony.

All of the countless hours of hard work and dedication to Fallston High School are finally paying off.  Seven seniors are recognized as 12-season athletes this year.

Ryan Bonhoff shot hoops, tackled players and checked sticks during his twelve seasons.   As a football, basketball and lacrosse player, Ryan traveled all around Maryland competing against teams.  His favorite memory was beating North Harford in football last fall.  He plans to attend Harford Community College.

“The twelve seasons were a lot of hard work.  I am proud of my teammates and glad that they helped pushed me through.  I couldn’t have done it without them,” said Ryan.

Shannon Cooper started out her FHS athletic career as a Lacrosse and Soccer player.  She then switched over to running Track and Field, Indoor Track and Cross Country during her upperclassman years.  Shannon switched from soccer to Cross Country because as a goalie she couldn’t do what she loved to do: run.  Her friends she made during freshman year Track were the ones who inspired her to go after her love for running.   She plans to attend the University of Maryland in the Fall to study communications and Spanish.

“Being a 12-season athlete meant that I had to balance athletics, academics, family and friends the best that I possibly could for four years.  I’d say that all of the hard work was definitely worth it.  I am so grateful for the friends and memories I made,” said Shannon.

Rachael Holehouse, a two-time Basketball State Champion and a Volleyball State Champion, plans to play Volleyball at Palm Beach Atlantic University next fall.  She contributed to Fallston Athletics in countless ways while on the volleyball, basketball and tennis teams.  In 2011 she was named the Volleyball Player of the Year.  Rachael was also selected by the Baltimore Sun as First Team All-Metro in 2010 for volleyball.

“In those twelve seasons I made a lot of friendships and memories that I will never forget.  I’m looking forward to the next four years where I can add to those friendships and memories.  I’m proud of the hard work my teammates and I put in,” said Rachael.

Katie LaHatte, a soccer State Champion kept busy with Soccer, Indoor Track, and Track and Field.  As a sophomore, Katie made Varsity Soccer.  Her senior year she was named Captain.  She qualified for States in both Indoor Track and Track and Field every season since sophomore year.  Her contributions to Fallston athletics helped name her as the Al Cesky Scholarship nominee for FHS, along with Jason Lawrence.  Next year Katie will be attending Towson University to study English.

“I feel so accomplished because I was able to make a goal and stay committed to it for all four years.  I also met some of the greatest friends through sports and I am really grateful for that,” said Katie.

Katie Mitchell, another soccer State Champion, spent her afternoons out on the soccer and lacrosse fields and on the track.  As a sophomore, Katie made Varsity Soccer.  She was named Captain during her senior year.  She also qualified for States three years for Indoor Track.  As a lacrosse player she was named to the All-UCBAC team.  The Fallston community wishes her a speedy recovery.

“I made a goal for myself during my freshman year that I would be a 12-season athlete.  I am so proud of myself for making it.  The thing I appreciate the most are the friendships I made over the past four years.  My teammates have helped me through some of the toughest times,” said Katie.

Katie Lazzeri ran Cross Country and Indoor Track and played on the Lacrosse team during her twelve seasons.  She made it to States in Cross Country for four years.  In Indoor Track she made it to states three years in a row.  She plans to attend the Naval Academy Preparatory School in the fall and then go on to study Oceanography at the Naval Academy.

“A lot of time and effort had to be put in but it was all worth it in the end because of all the amazing accomplishments and friendships that were made,” said Katie.

Jordan Wagner, a three-year Varsity Lacrosse player and a 2011 Field Hockey State Champion, also played Basketball during her high school career.  She ran the field during field hockey and put on her helmet as the goalie for the lacrosse team.  Jordan committed to play lacrosse at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania.  She plans to study Physical Therapy.

“Being named a 12-season athlete is what got me through some of the tough times.  Whenever a game or practice was rough, it inspired me to keep pushing me through and to give it my all.  I feel really honored and proud of myself to have made it through 12 seasons,” said Jordan.

As these Cougars move on to their future endeavors, their dedication and hard work will always be prided here at FHS.
