Getting the right information about things going on at school is sometimes really hard, but that’s not the case for Opelousas High School students thanks to the OHS Web site.

“I always visit the OHS Web site; that’s how I know when the games are, and who we are playing,” said sophomore Curtis Morton.

A sports schedule is one of the many things featured on the site; there is also the school mission statement, the OHS students’ handbook, a list of the teachers, and much more.

English teacher Connie Deville, who works on the Web site at home when she has free time, said: “It’s not really a hard job; it just takes time. I would really like to work on it more because I feel it could be so much better.”

“I like it a lot. It tells all about the major events, it’s great,” sophomore Brittany Matt said.

“I think it’s cute,” said sophomore Brittany Custenia.

However, some OHS students were not aware that the school had a Web site.

“I didn’t know about the Web site, but I’ll have to check it out,” OHS sophomore Charlsie Rubin said.

The Web site has been available for students since November 2004.

Many students know about the Web site, but think it should be more entertaining.

“I think the Web site could have much more on it, like pictures from school events and things dealing with the student body” said senior LaQuisha Zachery.

Deville’s goal is to improve the site by redesigning it soon, according to Deville.

“I just want it to have more space,” she said.

The URL is www.opelousashigh.slp.k12.la.us, and everyone is encouraged to visit. Visitors can also see the newspaper section where the latest newspaper stories from recent issues may be viewed.
