Students often stress over the regular everyday tests, but sophomores have one very important test to stress over next week, the OGT’s. Sophomore students are required to take the Ohio Graduation Test (OGT) in order to graduate. The sophomore students have to pass all five courses. If the students fail a course(s), then they have to take it until they pass.

Sophomore Paige Higgins said, “I’m so nervous to take these OGT’s. It’s so overwhelming and I’m afraid I am going to fail!” But no worries Paige, you can take them as many times as you can until you do pass, if you fail.

Teachers are doing their very best to prepare their students to pass these OGTs. It is very important for them to pass. The students are required to take the English OGT which requires the reading and writing portion of the test, Social Studies OGT which includes information from World History and US History, and the Science OGT which includes regular science and Biology information all contained from the sophomore’s freshman year and this year.

Mackenzie Swope, a junior mentioned, “The OGT mostly contained information from your freshman year, so for the most part, it was pretty easy.” Hopefully, sophomores will agree with her after taking this test. Kirah Hamby also a junior, added to her comment, “I agree with Mackenzie. But it was kind of hard for me because I just forgot all of the stuff that I learned my freshman year, so I had a harder time with it. But I still passed, so it’s all good.” Hopefully the teachers have prepared the students enough for this test.

The OGT also has OGT Prep (help) classes after school on Tuesday’s and Friday’s for all courses that must be taken. The classes last session for the OCT Prep (help) are held next week.
