Kelsey Skaggs, a junior at Springboro High School, gave a stellar solo performance at The Young Americans event on Saturday, Febraury 23.

. The song, which was written by her, was titled "Lost in Translation".

"I thought of the song when I was sitting down watching T.V., and the commercial about the donation to feed a child for $0.30 a day came on," says Skaggs,"and it just made me think about all the problems that the people in the world are facing today and why they are going through such hard times."

Aside from her song "Lost in Translation" Skaggs has also written more than 50 songs. Eight of those songs have been written to music. These include titlesI such as "Facebook Admirer", "The Cross", and "Pick up a Book."

Skaggs began singing before she could talk and was on stage at the age of three. She started writing poetry in the third grade.

It was two years ago, in her freshman year of high school, that Skaggs started developing a knack for writing her own songs. She performed in many musicals, but was a sophomore when she sang her first solo at the Garage.

"I remember feeling so nervous at first," says Skaggs,"but at The Young Americans performance I felt pretty calm."

At the moment, Skaggs is considering music as a career option. "I would like to be a pop artist, a Christian artist, or a music missionary." she said.
