Varsity baseball players say a new rule prohibiting certain bats has made little difference to them.

Only bats that meet certain safety and performance standards are allowed in games this year, according to a rule change by the National Federation of State High School Associations.

"The aluminum bats caused injuries," said Varsity Baseball Coach Steve Sharp.

But player David Cole said, "I can’t tell the difference; if you can hit the ball, you can hit the ball."

The new rule aims to improve safety by requiring non-wooden bats to perform like wooden bats.
