Senior Mural

There is no question that the senior home at Eastmont is the brightest and most colorful of all the homes. Every year the senior class contributes a mural to the hallowed halls of Eastmont.

This year the senior mural is composed of a series of squares that when united, forms a maroon and black 08. Each senior will be given a square for their own design. The seniors square can illustrate who they are, the sports they played in high school, or anything that is of importance to them. They can choose to draw their square or an art student can draw it for them.

On Wednesday some of the senior art students: Chris Parrish, Jessica Price, Christina Shelor, Brittney Ayers, Codie Womack, C.J. Giles, Gunther Shorter, Kyley Hilleman, Ashley Bishop, Michael Basham, and Rachel Gilson met and discussed the mural. Next week the seniors working on the mural will talk to their sages groups and explain what is needed from the rest of the class, for completing the mural.

Senior C.J. Giles said, “I think this year’s mural will be the most difficult one to do, because every senior will have something different they want to add to it.”

Ms. Smith Price has a difficult task this year. There are no advanced art classes this semester. The students working on the mural will be doing on their own spare time: during lunches, after school, and during any free time they may have.

The tradition is that once the seniors perform their last graduation practice, they go up to the senior home and sign their new mural. This year, having everyone in the senior class designing their own personal square, each senior has the opportunity to participate in making the mural. It will truly be a “senior class mural”.
