Mr. Wheeler puts the “Pal” in Principal

By: Ashley Bishop

Mr. Wheeler. You see his cheery face all through out the halls, but do you really know him? How many skeletons does he have in his closet? Four? Nine? Try eleven.

In actuality, John Wheeler is a third time marathon runner or that he sits on a rubber inflatable ball because it makes his lower back feel nice, and he doesn’t have any strange things in his closet.

Mr. Wheeler wakes up promptly at 5:30. He gets dressed and begins his day by going on a hearty run if it is warm outside, but if it is too chilly, he will do pushups and sit-ups for his morning exercise.

He has his favorite breakfast; oatmeal with an egg white omelet. After finishing his breakfast, he jumps in his old Ford and arrives at Eastern Montgomery normally around 7:00 AM.

When he arrives, he normally gets his bottled water out of the office mini-fridge. He logs on to his computer and checks his email. He then makes his way outside to greet the buses and his great students.

His day is always demanding and filled with different activities. He keeps a watch out over all his students, He says he likes to prevent students from wrong decisions and that he basically likes to help the students and staffs have an excellent day.

Lena Grant said, “Mr. Wheeler is a great assistant principal;. You can tell he really cars about the students and wants us all to succeed.”

When Mr. Wheeler gets a break, he enjoys his lunch. He eats the same food from the cafeteria that the students do. In fact his favorite thing to grab from the lunch line is bosco sticks.

He wraps his school day up by watching the students climb on the buses to get on their way back home. After all of the students have left, he makes his way back home getting there usually between 3:30-4:00.

As soon as he arrives home he hugs his wife and kids, and they talk about their days for a little while. He then goes for a quick run, then he has his dinner with his family, and finally he catches up on any paper work or errands he has to do for the next day.

He finally gets to relax and the end up his hectic day by winding down and watching several sports and hits the sack around 10:30.

I bet you didn’t know that Mr. Wheeler has four children: Katy, Luke, Michael and Caroline! He currently has no pets, and he and his wife have been together for over 20 years!

Mr. Wheeler is more then an assistant principal, he is a caring individual who loves his job and what he does every day.
