I did a face to face interview with Mr. Kevin Schneider and his background of football on May 25th, 2006 .The reason why I decided to do an interview on Kevin Schneider was because his knowledge in football has always fascinated me. I am interested in football because of all the hard work and dedication put into the sport.
Mr. Schneider attended high school at Bishop Guilfoyle. He played football there for four years. The position he played in high school was not only defensive end but he also played tight end, which most people know it as offensive. He graduated high school in the year of 1994.
The college he attended was Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Where he obtains a degree in health and physical education in grades kindergarten-twelfth. During his time at IUP he played 4 years of NCAA baseball.
Mr. Schneider is now the assistant defense coach and also the strength and conditioning coordinator of Central High School. He said the physical competition and the preparation it takes to win is the reason why he choose to coach and play football. Mr. Schneider also stated that there are life lessons you can learn, that you have to try hard to win, and also its a good way to show someone the more you put in the more you win.
I had asked Mr. Schneider what he liked most about football. Kevin replied that it is very clear who wins and who loose on a one on one battle. It lets you know where you are at physically and mentally. It also shows you your weaknesses. Mr. Schneider also stated," I think I choose it to be part of the team. Victory is sweeter whenever you have someone else to share it with."
Another question that I had asked Mr. Schneider was, "What would have to be your favorite position in the sport." He replied, " My favorite position would have to be defense of end because there the instructions are very simple but yet clear enough to understand and you can just tackle whoever has the football.
Football might look like its easy to play but really there's a lot more to it then what people think. In order to understand the plays you have to spend time studying the safety and rules guidelines. Football consists of a lot of conditioning, lifting, plays and coordination. Not knowing the way things are done in this sport you could hurt yourself or someone else. It's more than just catching the ball and running. You have to know the plays well enough before you begin. Not only do you need to have this information but also you need to make sure that you are both physically and mentally ready before you play.
A lot of dedication and practices go into this sport as well. At practices you just don't bring a football and throw it around. You lift weights, practice the plays and do a lot of running. Knowing offense and defense helps the players put the play in affect.
Football is a very popular sport but not only in high school but all over the world. It’s a fun sport to watch but also fun to play at anytime and any age.
