The Blind Side Review
By: Kellyanne Stack and Taylor Woods

Last weekend we went to go see The Blind Side, a film based on the book about football player Michael Oher coming to live in an upper class family’s home. The book and movie are based on the true story of the star football player Michael Oher of the Baltimore Ravens. The Tuohy family is a rich and beautiful family living in the wealthy part of town, and is completely ignorant of the terrible things that happen around the block where Michael grew up. Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy are two perfect parents who graduated from Ole Miss college, and are doing fine financially with their two children, Collins Tuohy, and SJ (Sean Junior) Tuohy. Oher attends a Christian school because the coach sees what a great addition Michael would be to his football team.
Growing up as a neglected child, with his mother a drug addict and a dead father, Michael walks the streets alone. One rainy night, the Tuohy family finds him strolling along the road in the rain and takes him home for the night. Sure enough, they become attached to him. With his amazing athletic ability, Oher gradually starts getting scholarship offers from many different colleges. However, his academic skills aren’t rising as fast as his football career. The Tuohy family hires him a tutor to help him graduate.
We both enjoyed this movie immensely and thought it sent a great message about what’s important in life and what love can do to you. This movie had no clichés, from what I believe, and if it did I did not notice because of the great performances from all the actors. Sandra Bullock really stood out to me as I had seen her in a comedy movie only weeks before. She totally transformed, and is probably one of the reasons the movie has been nominated for a Golden Globe, and five other awards. We both believe this should win all five, as it is now our favorite movie of all time. Tim McGraw, Sandra Bullock, Quinton Aaron, Jae Head, and even Lily Collins make this movie pure genius.
If you are in search of a monumental, spectacular, life story, I would recommend the Blind Side. It will touch your heart and really make you think differently about the world and people around us.
