By By Casey W., 8th grade
For many years, NWR#7 students have been creating turkey baskets to help out each of our four school towns: New Hartford, Barkhamsted, Norfolk, and Colebrook. Having a close call this year with limited time, we managed to distribute 38-39 Thanksgiving baskets—making Thanksgiving happen for local families that live within our school district. Great job, guys!
Also, our annual Holiday Angels project was successful. Kayla B., middle school student council president, rallied each grade to donate for ten little children who wouldn’t have a Christmas without our help. Some children asked for as little as a pair of pants or boots to play in the snow! That isn’t much. In addition, money was raised to help our “Red Angels,” students from Northwestern. Despite limited time due to the 7th grade trip to see A Christmas Carol, we pulled it off. Many thanks to student council advisor Mr. Wilbur, student council members who helped, and to all middle school students and teachers that donated. Great job, again!
If you have any ideas of events or charities that we can sponsor, speak with Kayla B. to talk about them!
