Have you been watching UConn Women’s basketball lately? Have you heard about the new freshmen who came in this year? Everyone has been talking about the new freshman Caroline Doty, but do you remember the other all-star Mel Thomas? They have so much in common, so some say that Doty could be another Mel Thomas. They both play the same position (guard) and they are both around 5’9-5’10 in height. Geno, coach of UConn Women’s Basketball, played them both for about the same time when they were freshmen. They can also shoot three pointers amazingly, and they shoot them accurately right on target. But, the question is, “Were they this good in high school?”

They were, actually. They were incredible. Did you know that Caroline Doty averaged 16.2 points and 8.2 rebounds per game in high school? They both got about the same awards from the same people, well almost. They were based on the same thing. Some of the awards include player or co-player of the year, honorable mention, and Parade Magazine All American. As you can see, they were pretty good their whole life, well through high school and now college. We wonder how they played in middle school! Do you think Caroline Doty is another Mel Thomas?
