The 6th, 7th,and 8th graders of Ms. DeVito’s class are taking the challenge to create art like the work of Louise Nevelson’s box art. By using objects that show what our hobbies are, we will put them in boxes and, at the end, we will glue all our boxes together and make a big sculpture which will be set out in the artfair.
Our work will represent the work of Louise Nevelson. She was a born in Russia and moved to America. After wanting to become an artist, she moved to Germany to attend art school. After six months of studying in her school, the Nazis began to takeover Germany and, being a Jew herself, she left and returned to America. Later she continued to make her box sculptures.
We hope they turn out to look a little like Nevelson’s work after we stick all ours together and spray paint them.
