Sports Physics
With Shawn and Jeremy
Welcome sports fans! We are the exciting new sports writers for the Bell Newspaper. Shawn is the expert in hockey/baseball and Jeremy is the baseball/football fanatic. We will post standings and interesting facts every issue. In the MLB, we have four great teams. There is an east coast matchup in the Red Sox-Rays series. The young Rays will be a tough team against the defending champs in the Red Sox. Also, there is the Dodgers-Phillies series which should be good to watch. Manny and the hometown Dodgers go up against the Fightin’ Phills with Jimmy Rollins. As of right now the NHL is just finishing up the preseason so we don’t have much news yet. Although, we can predict who we think will be in the Stanley Cup Finals. Even though the Pittsburgh Penguins lost to the Detroit Red Wings last year we believe that they will be back for another go at the cup. On the other hand, Chicago is not a very happy city right now with both baseball teams losing in the playoffs, but there is a chance that the Blackhawks might get a whiff of championship air. With almost all young guys the “hawks” will be in the mess for the cup.
ASB
By: Joe Ayers and Nick Sherman
As many of you know, ASB is our school’s student council. They are the ones who spend our school’s money, and when asked about how they are planning to spend our school’s money this year, Ann Marie Lee says the money will be spent on “students, dances, competitions, activities, and red ribbon week.” Also our school's elections have just finished. Our president is Gabe Pangilinan and our vice president is Christine Chen. ASB has improved our school in numerous ways over the years, and when Mrs. Stuart, the ASB teacher, was asked what improvements were going to be made this year to improve our school, she answered, “I am very excited to be the ASB advisor this year. Our goal for the year is to make Bell Intermediate a fun and exciting place for every student. We want to increase participation in dances, fundraisers, and spirit days. Let’s make this year the best year ever!” You heard it here students, so start going to the dances, start fundraising for our school, and take part in the school activities. And remember students, “Let’s make this year the best year ever!”
