Jonathan and his parents - Parents
Advertising
In 1997, at the age of three, Jonathan Savoy, co-reporter for The Talon’s feature section, was adopted by his new family. His biological mother was not capable of taking care of him, so Linda and Carey did. They took him under their wings. They were able to give him things that his previous parents could not. “I am thankful for getting adopted by them,” stated Jonathon.
Many kids are put into foster care every year, and they are usually there for an extremely long time, but Jonathan was lucky enough to get adopted as soon as he did. He was placed in foster care at the age of two, and within a year, he was adopted.
Some people adopt children because they want to help out, and some adopt because they are not able to have a child on their own, just like Jonathan’s parents. “When we found out we were unable to have children, we decided to become foster parents. We took in Jonathan in our home and fell in love with him, as he did with us. At that point, we decided on adoption,” said Mrs. Savoy.
Jonathan knew since he was three years old that he was adopted; he always felt loved and special. Every year they celebrate the “special day.” Although he knows a lot about his adoptive parents, he knows very little about the people with whom he shares the same genes. He only knows his adoptive mothers name and that is it. “It doesn’t bother me that I don’t know my biological parents.”
Adoption can be a gamble but Jonathan came out on top!
