It has been a long time since Eminem has come out with something decent, but his new album, “Recovery,” and its top single, “Not Afraid,” puts the “awe” in awesome.
“Recovery” is a real step up from “Relapse,” his last album, which was kind of disturbing because of the songs relating stories of his abusive childhood.
Two of the songs that have been airingregularly on the radio are “Love the Way You Lie” and “I’m Not Afraid.” Both are excellent tracks, but these two songs are not my favorites.
“Cinderella Man,” which imitates the passion of an earlier hit by Eminem, “Lose Yourself” (which is another personal favorite of mine), is my favorite song from his newest album.
The three above-mentioned songs are not the only good songs on this CD. This is not one of those situations where you buy the whole CD only to have one or two songs that you actually like to burn onto your iPod.
This is an excellent collection of feelings and passions about life changes.
The hate, love and passion expressed in this classic rapper’s songs is guaranteed to get you moving and it is surely to bring this artist back up to the forefront of the chart-toppers.
Eminem has always had his own unique style of rap. The way he weaves the words and meanings into each other makes a tapestry of amazing quality.
His occasional sarcastic references in his lyrics are very enjoyable as well, if you’re smart enough and savvy enough to pick them out.
The album “Recovery” is by far Eminem’s best work yet, with songs featuring artist like Lil Wayne, Pink and Rihanna.
As awesome as it is, I must put a warning out there before you purchase this album. This CD is extremely urban. You know what I mean by “urban” if you have listened to Eminem before. He does not shy away from vulgarity and grim topics.
Don’t let that get you down, though, or scare you away. This is a great album that is completely worth investing in.
