After a month and a half of rehearsing, memorizing, auditioning, and stress levels being pushed to the limit, the Ouachita Junior High School Cubs’ Choir, directed by Mrs. Rachele Kennedy, presented their annual Spring Concert to the student body on May 5th, 2009.

The theme of this year was “Let’s Go to the Movies,” and it involved songs from popular movies, such as “Grease,” “High School Musical 3,” and “Aladdin.” To kick off the concert, the Boys Ensemble sang “The Adams Family.” Then the girls sang “My Heart Will Go On” from “Titanic.” Next up, the girls and boys came together to sing “A Whole New World,” with solos from Morale Abram, Cory Thaxton, and Hannah Edwards.

Next up, Carmen Chenault, Joya Lewis and the choirs kicked things up a notch with “You’re the One That I Want,” from “Grease.” Then everyone sang a medley of four songs from High School Musical 3, “Right Here, Right Now,” “I Want It All,” “Can I Have This Dance,” and “High School Musical,” with solos from Devarrius Dean, Ashley Jones, Cory Thaxton, Chloe Henington, Elyse Dozier, and Ansell Jordan.

As an added bonus, many of the choir students came together to dance the “Hoedown Throwdown” from the Hannah Montana Movie. All in all, the concert was a huge success! Great job Choir! Congratulations for an exceptional year!
