1. Q: How did you get started teaching?

A: I started teaching as a substitute for many districts in Phoenix.

2. Q: What is your dream occupation?

A: I’m in it. I’m here. I have arrived.

3. Q: What did you do before you started teaching FLEX?

A: I taught at three schools: Ironwood when there was 7th and 8th grade, Desert Foothills, and Cholla always teaching FLEX.

4. Q: How long have you been teaching FLEX?

A: My first year was ’98 – ’99.

5. Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of FLEX?

A: I enjoy doing things with my family and traveling around Arizona.

6. Q: What exactly is FLEX?

A: It stands for flexible learning experiences. Highly gifted 7th and 8th grade students can come if qualified. FLEX includes advanced social studies, advanced language arts, and advanced literature all interrelated. There is one year of America and one year of world cultures.

7. Q: What did you aspire to be as a young tot?

A: Well, I figure I would be… Well, in 8th grade, I narrowed it down to movie director, cartoonist, and teacher. So I made it in my top three.

8. Q: Do you play any musical instruments?

A: Guitar… Not well.

9. Q: What are you going to do once you retire?

A: Climb up the highest mountain and wonder why I retired.

10. Q: Are you ever going to write a book? (Like you promised.)

A: I have written articles and short stories and they have been published, but to write one book myself… It’s possible. My father has written two large books.

11. Q: Coke or Pepsi?

A: Pepsi… I very rarely drink it.
