A rolling stone will gather no moss,
but too many cooks may spoil the broth
But to have a friend, first one you must be;
to be so, recall, beauty’s only skin deep
A leopard cannot change his spots, quoth the wise,
but things are not quite as they seem to your eyes
For all that does glitter is not in fact gold,
and those with warm hearts may have hands that are cold
So don’t judge a book by its cover, I say,
for in time every dog will yet have its day
Speaking of which, dog is man’s best friend,
so let sleeping dogs lie and you’ll live to the end
For the good die young, ‘less to animals they’re kind
Think through this well, then look and you’ll find
But don’t ever look a gift horse in the jaw
Possession, you know, is nine points of the law
When opportunity knocks you should open the doors,
but as a buyer, beware, for the error is yours.
But every dark cloud has a sliver lining;
just as cold April showers doth May flowers bring
When the night is so dark, the dawn is soon near,
but you still can't make purses out of sows’ ears
So never bite off more than you can chew
and never forget that beggars can’t choose
Don’t bite at the hand that has to you fed
As you make it, so, you must lie in your bed
Remember: a thousand mile trip must begin with one step
But then, only an elephant never forgets
So if you can’t be good, then be careful, I pray
From a soft whisper wrath turns away
Because in silence doth consent give well
So ask me no questions and no lies I’ll tell
But the bigger the lie, the more it’s believed,
And without any fervor, nothing’s achieved
When you paddle your own canoe as you go,
A friend in need is indeed, you know
But while birds of a feather may flock together
You should always put business right before pleasure
So it goes without saying, you should always pay heed
to the elders with whom you should respect indeed
Now remember, my child, though tomorrow I’m gone;
dead men tell no tales, but the written word lives on.
