Outdoor Science
School
This March, the 6th grade will be going on a 7-day trip
to Malibu for OSS, which means Outdoor Science School.
There are many activities we will be doing at OSS, during
the day and the night!
During the day, we
will be walking trails, and learning a lot of things about the things we see
and do, such as the environments we se, and different rocks and plants.
At nighttime, we will be participating in a different
activity every night. On the first night, we will have a campfire night and the
counselors will introduce us to camp. On
the other nights we will have a dance night, a skit night, and a night hike.
Of course, we will also be sleeping at nighttime! There will be different cabins, and in the
cabins there will be 8-11 people, only girls or only boys
At OSS, we are allowed to bring cameras, but the teachers
and counselors recommend we bring disposable ones because of the risk that they
will break.
During Outdoor Science School, we will have many kid
friendly foods, such as pancakes, pizza, tacos, chicken, and a salad bar at
every meal. Of course there will be
desserts every day too!
There are not many things we need to bring at OSS,
because a lot of things will be provided for us. Some of the things we should bring though are
clothes for the week, a bottle of water, a good working pencil and a few of our
personnel, indispensable items.
As many of our teachers have said, OSS is a fun learning
experience for mostly all the students that go there, so it should be a good
experience for us too!
