Recently, I have surveyed several students from ESMS’ 7th and 8th grade. I learned about all their opinions on 7th grade. Do they think 7th grade is easier than the past grades? Does 7th grade help you with any activities outside of school? What is the best thing about 7th grade? All these questions and more were answered in my survey. Some of the students had completely different thoughts than the other. Not only did I learn a lot from this experience, but it also changes some of my thoughts about 7th grade.

How is 7th grade compared to the other grades, better or worse, and why? 9 out of 10 of the students said that 7th grade was better. They said this because in the previous grades that they passed, had a larger standard and it was more difficult for kids to understand than in 7th grade. Another reason why 7th grade is better is because it makes you have more progress because you learn more things than in 6th grade. This was one of my best questions.

Has 7th grade help you with any activities outside of school? 10 out of 10 of the students responded with no. They say that 7th grade is just about schoolwork. I know that this question will have many other opinions, but school is supposed to help you wherever you go. This changed my opinion about 7th grade. I thought that the work would definitely help you, but I don’t know anything about 7th grade, other than what these 7th graders say. This is one of the questions that got me thinking.

What’s the best thing about 7th grade? 5 out of 10 of the 7th grade student and 10 out of 10 of the 8th grade students said the teachers. The teachers are the ones who make them have progress. The teachers are the reason why they get smarter. The other 5 out of 10 students said that the best thing about being a 7th grader was that you feel older, and much wiser. You finally get to feel like an actual teenager. You get to make your own decisions for yourself, and you get to help out younger kids who need help because you went through it before many times. This question makes me look forward to 7th grade because then is the stage where you can actually be a big kid.

I learned so much about 7th grade over this survey. I’m so lucky that these kids helped me out with this. I gathered all the information that I need. It really got me thinking about 7th grade. I wonder if it’s as good or as bad as the students said it was. Is it better than 6th grade? How much homework is there? Is it really hard? Even thought not all of these questions were answered, I’ll get to find out next year. But for now, I just get to think more about things. This survey was very helpful to me.
