You wouldn’t think having a dress code at school is a good thing because students wouldn’t follow it. Some students like to do the opposite of what they are told. They think breaking the school policy is a “cool” thing to do so they try it.
There is no point in having a dress code at school because it is after all, a free country and students can wear whatever they please. It’s their choice to choose what they want to wear. Some students in school follow the dress code but some won’t because they think it is stupid. They break the school policy because it’s a rule and rules are set to be broken, that is what they think. Students think dress codes are stupid because to them it’s another rule from an older person and they don’t like to get bossed around thus they rebel against it by doing the opposite.
They think of it like another order, another annoying thing they will have to listen to. Students are tired of listening to things that they are told to do.
Some people would think having a dress code is a good thing because they think of it in a positive way such as if they were to wear clothes that are conservative then they would have less of a chance of getting raped.
Some may say that a strong dress code helps reduce the chances of one getting raped but there are others who think that a dress code does not do anything to prevent rape because they believe, it doesn’t matter who the person is or how they dress, the rapists can attack them anytime, the matter lies solely in the hand of the rapist.
The positive thing of having a dress code policy is that the school would become more organized but there negative effects that may occur as well: because the dress code would be like a law that controls people. If all the people were to follow the dress codes than what controls their lives are the policies. The student’s personality matches what they wear because the way they dress allows them express themselves; if even that is taken away from them then there is no point in being who they are, students should wear what they feel comfortable with, they have the rights to. The school policy shouldn’t be able to take away those rights from students. If students don’t follow the rule of their parents then they wouldn’t even bother to follow school policies. Students are forced to follow the dress code policies and they should not be forced, they have their own rights. A student that doesn’t follow the dress code will face some penalties but if students had a choice to choose what would they pick?
Would they follow the rules or wear clothes that they feel comfortable with? Students know most people would pick to wear what they feel comfortable with because nobody would want to wear clothes they don’t like.
People who only think about the positive effect of the dress code need to learn that there are also negative effects.
If they are only thinking about the positive things the dress code gives than that will only show that they are only thinking about themselves
